Square Larimar Rope Band Ring in 925 Sterling Silver
A square Larimar cabochon, bezel-set and sitting square to the finger, on a finely twisted rope band. The geometry is the point: clean right angles against the softest stone in the case. Larimar is a blue variety of pectolite found in the Dominican Republic, and because it forms naturally, each cabochon has its own drift of blue and white. No two are the same.
The bezel encloses the stone's full edge, which suits Larimar at 4.5 to 5 on the Mohs scale, and the rope texture keeps the band from reading as plain. At roughly 3.5 grams it has a little heft without being a statement piece.
In Caribbean and crystal tradition Larimar is associated with the sea and sky, the throat chakra and calm communication. These are traditional associations rather than demonstrated effects.
