Larimar Hammered Fan Drop Earrings in 925 Sterling Silver
A half-moon fan of sterling silver, hammered all over so it catches the light unevenly, with an oval Larimar cabochon set into the centre of each. The texture is what makes them: the stone stays smooth while everything around it is deliberately worked.
Larimar is a blue variety of pectolite found in the Dominican Republic. Against a matte hammered surface the blue reads stronger than it would on a high polish, and the white cloudiness in each stone shows clearly.
At around 7.4 grams the pair has real presence. They hang from simple hook wires and sit just below the lobe.
In Caribbean and crystal tradition Larimar is associated with the sea and sky, the throat chakra and calm communication. These are traditional associations rather than demonstrated effects.

Care
Larimar is relatively soft at 4.5 to 5 on the Mohs scale. Remove before swimming and showering, clean with a soft damp cloth, and store in a pouch away from harder stones. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners, polishing compounds on the hammered areas, and prolonged sunlight.
