Larimar Filigree Statement Ring in 925 Sterling Silver
A large, high-domed Larimar cabochon held in a bezel, with scrolled filigree shoulders curling away on either side. This is the cocktail ring of the range: the stone is given room to be the whole point, and the silverwork frames rather than competes with it.
Larimar is a blue variety of pectolite found in the Dominican Republic. On a cabochon this size the natural drift of turquoise into white is fully visible, and no two stones will show the same movement. Slight variation in colour and texture between pieces is the mark of natural stone rather than a flaw.
At roughly 7 grams it has real weight on the hand. The bezel matters here too, since Larimar sits at 4.5 to 5 on the Mohs scale and an enclosed rim protects a large stone's edges.
In Caribbean and crystal tradition Larimar is associated with the sea and sky, the throat chakra and calm communication. These are traditional associations rather than demonstrated effects.
